Sense of place is defined as the emotive bonds and attachments people develop or experience in particular locations and environments. These locations and environments ranging from home to the nation. Through specific experiences, an individual can sense wellbeing, comfort, and safety from a place. When emotional feelings are awakened by a place it connects an individual to that place which then introduces oneself to place-identity.
In this body of work, I explore the emotions associated with specific locations from my past and present that I feel an attachment. Through the usage of form and color, I represent specific locations and emotions felt during my experience in those locations. During the process of reflecting on these experiences, I’m able to observe the connection between place and identity. The experience I have with these three specific locations has impacted my life making me the individual I am today.
